With marijuana becoming less strict and more useful, states have been becoming linear on the laws. Georgia has been linear about marijuana than you think. Atlanta lawmakers ended criminal penalties for low-level marijuana possession (less than an ounce).
Now state senator Curt Thompson tried to legalize cannabis in Georgia last year. The billed failed. This time, 5 other state lawmakers attached their names to the effort.
Georgia has be known for having the strictest marijuana laws in the country.
Senator Thompson said "To get rid of gangs, to get rid of the organize crime unit, that is the only way to do it is to it statewide."
Georgia were to legalize and tax recreational cannabis, it would mean more than $340 million in tax revenue.
