Texas’ lawmakers and Department of State Health Services announced that the state will remove hemp from its list of Schedule I drugs. Schedule I drugs are defined as substances with high potential for abuse and no medical use.
The decriminalization proposal, HB 36, made it out of the House’s Criminal Jurisprudence Committee. Six bills take a look at making penalties for Marijuana possessions. Four more other bills were also set to be reviewed that related to production, licensing and regulation, and a bill that will change the name marihuana to cannabis.
Rep. Tracy King’s House Bill 1325 that would authorize hemp production and grow of hemp products. This a great start for Texas for legalization of marijuana!
