A new study published in the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization has done research that the legalization of cannabis could help reduce violent crimes.
The results are based of Washington and Oregon, which legalized weed in 2012 and 2014. Researchers examine 11 counties in Washington and 10 in Oregon. The findings revealed that the legalization of recreational marijuana decrease 15 to 30 percent in violent crimes. Legalization helps reduces police arrest on users.
Residents in legal states reduced normal and binge alcohol consumption choosing weed over the substances.
